  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I did a great variety of tasks which meant I was exposed to many aspects of the audit process.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My people manager was excellent with informing me of things that needed completed and would always ask how I was getting on.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • When out at clients most of the time I had work to do. Only on a few occasions was there nothing I could help with in the audit but since I was involved in an intern project and presenation, there was always something for me to work on.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was with one client for 3 weeks of my internship so I was given responsibility of a section of the audit which was great.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think the skills I have learnt here will greatly help when I return for my last year of my degree. This will also carry forward to once I have graduated and I am working towards my CA.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was very welcoming and I felt comfortable as soon as I started my internship. the people are one of the best things about Grant Thornton.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised. I always knew who I was reporting to and where I was to be.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The induction day in London for all interns was very good and also our trip down to Grant Thornton's training grounds in High Wicombe included fantastic presentation training. A highlight of my internship.

  • Very good wmployment prospets.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Definitely. Our multiple trips down to London allowed interns from the same offices and with all other offices to mix which was great. Also, within the Glasgow office there was loads of socials n Friday nights after work including a pub quiz and a races night.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I already live in the same city as my internship and lived close enough to walk so it didn't really affect my cost of living.

  • Glasgow has a fantastic nightlife including bars and restaurants.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes loads! Quizess and after work drinks almost every week!
