    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The role involves being given sections of the Financial statements and performing tests to ensure the accuracy of the amounts being reported. This involves working closely with co workers and also involves a lot of communication with the client. My role involves a lot of responsibility for the areas I am working on

  • I have improved my communication skills as I have needed professional communication with the client at all times. I have also improved my knowledge of the accounting industry. I have also developed my microsoft excel skills as the role involves using this quite a lot.

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • During the first few months I was mostly given smaller tasks and helping others complete their sections. However, as my skills, confidence and understanding grew I was given my own areas and responsibilities.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The role involves a lot of teamwork and as a placement student I was the least experienced member of the team and so I was always able to speak with more experienced colleagues to receive support and guidance. This is expected of new starters and time is set aside to aid development.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • In my job role there are a lot of people of a similar age. Also many people are recruited and inducted at the same time. This means that there are always a lot of people going through the same things as you and I have always been comfortable with the culture and atmosphere.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have enjoyed the opportunity to work for the year. The work is challenging but I have seen a lot of growth in my confidence over the year. I have also had many social opportunities with co workers over the year like the Christmas party and a trip to Thorpe park.
