    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • In both the Reading office and the Oxford office, everyone was really friendly and laid back, yet they struck the balance between that and being professional. There was always someone to eat lunch with and constant tea and coffee rounds! I really liked the fact that I could go to anyone if I had a question.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship started really well with an evening of drinks and table tennis the night before and then a conference in London for our first day. This way really good as it was with all of the interns across the UK and got us all really excited for the next six weeks. I was asigned a buddy and knew I could go to her with any problems.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The personal training and developmemt was well laid out as at the beginning of the internship we set a few goals that we wanted to achieve during our 6 weeks. At week 3 we then had a midpoint interview to update on the progress we made and put a plan in place to achieve the goals that we hadn't yet been able to.

    Travel loan

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The culture of the organisation came across really well in my six weeks. After just the first week I thought that it would be a really nice place to work after uni. There are many benefits of working for Grant Thornton including TOIL. I feel that there would be a great support network in the office whilst studying for towards qualifications.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As i've said, the night before our internship started, all the interns went to London for an evening of drinks, food and table tennis. We were also taken out to lunch on our first day and got to meet others who recently joined the company. There are also new starter drinks and a company trip to the newbury races planned which we have been invited to.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Luckily, I am originally from Oxford so was able to live with my parents during my internship; therefore cutting out the costs of accomodation and food. Also a lot of my friends are from Oxford so I was always occupied during the evenings and on the weekends..

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As I live in Oxford, I'm very used to the nightlife. The clubs are pretty standard and the bars are lively. I think Oxford would be a good place to work because there is a good balance between nightlife, shopping, and work.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are many social clubs and societies around Oxford, however I didn't feel the need to join any as I've got a lot of friends in Oxford to occupy myself with!
