    The Role

  • Both the faculty at school and the British Council provided good support and guidance.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was only contracted to work 12 hours a week so I offered to take extra classes at the end of every school day, not only to aid my personal finances but to provide a sense of responsibility for myself.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt I had a very influential part to play throughout my placement. Although I was only contracted to work 12 hours a week I prepared all my own lessons, presentations and private after school classes.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Due to the remote location of my placement, the level of English spoken by the students and teachers was very limited, which improved my Spanish language skills immensely. I also acquired teaching skills and and improved levels of confidence which enabled me to give presentations in front of large groups, organisation and time management and preparing lessons for deadlines. Working with children also helped develop my people management skills.
