    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement. I got to learn and develop new and important IT skills that I feel will help me in my future career and final year at university.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very valued. They made me feel very welcome and treated me as part of the team. They would often ask me for help or my opinion on certain aspects of work.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My managers were superb. Bill help and guided me extremely well at the start when I was maybe having a few doubt and struggling to understand the work. He helped install confidence in me and this in turn made me feel that I worked to my full potential. Sinead for the sort time that shes been with hp was very supportive and encouraging with the work I was carrying out.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was quite busy during the day. I would have been given my alm sessions at the start of the week and worked through them quite efficiently throughout the week.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement as I was the person who mainly tested the UEK OS.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think I will help me to a certain extent. I gained more skills in installation of operating systems onto servers and also developed my knowledge of switches and fabrics.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a very good and positive atmosphere in the office in the fact that all the team get along extremely well and have a bit of banter among themselves so there is an element of a relaxed atmosphere as well.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Extremely well set up in that communication before I started was well established between myself and Bill and when I arrived the transition of settling in was quite straight forward.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Not an awful lot the only real training I received was the help from my co-workers in that they explained to me what they actually do. I done a few online course to help get myself familiar with Linux system a bit more but it wasn't relevant to the work or responsibilities I needed to do.
