The Role
I always felt like part of the team, rather than being 'just the intern'. Colleagues were supportive and made me and my contribution feel just as valued as anyone else's.
Excellent mentor who was very supportive and worked hard to help me get the most out of my internship.
Never bored! Occasionally felt like I had too much to do, but generally the balance was excellent.
For me, I had just the right amount of responsibility. My work was able to have a real impact, but I was also fully supported by my managers and project sponsors.
I learnt so much every day, the skills and experience I gained will definitely all be valuable to me in the future.
The Company
Atmosphere was fun and relaxed, but always professional.
The internship scheme is very structured, organised, and well-established, meaning it is recognised fully within the organisation.
Excellent mid-placement CV and Interview training run by the HR department dealing with the Grad Scheme, which will be really helpful in the future. Otherwise my role did not require much training.
I am definitely interested in working at Cancer Research UK.
The Culture
This was more difficult when we were all based at different sites (no longer the case).
Central London will never be cheap!
Lots of volunteering and fundraising opportunities, as well as staff-led social events.
