The Role
This was a great experience and I have learnt a lot within my 3 month internship. The team I have worked in were extremely welcoming and friendly throughout my time here. They gave me support at any point that I needed it.
Friendly to me from the off, and willing to guide me. If mistakes were made, you werent shouted at or made to feel undervalued. However the boundaries of professionalism. were alwayd kept.
I couldnt fault my mentor or line manager for giving me support on tasks when i need it. Even when I asked too many questions, they answered every single one, without losing their patience.
At the start, my projects were slow to pick up however a couple of weeks into my internship I was very busy throughout the day and had to manage all projects at certain levels. I think this was due to my mentor introducing me to the team and what I would be working on throughout the 3 months.
I was given responsibility in running my own projects from start to finish, however I did not get the final sign off of projects, understandable as this had to be completed by my mentor and managers.
All the skills I learnt will help me develop personally; through patience and learning that projects can change at the very last minute. I will take everything that I have learnt within my internship for my future career.
The Company
very good atmosphere. The team was always professional but friendly and approachable. Even members of other teams were approachable, even if it was a problem they may not be able to help with; they would point me in the right direction.
Very well organised. Projecta had been set up and organised before I had entered the company. My mentor had put aside time in her diary every week as well to make sure that she caught up with me on my projects and to note my progress.
I have developed myself throughout this internship however I have had the support of my mentor and team in guiding me in the right direction.
Subsidised Canteen
Working from home
Healthcare/Dental
Extremely appealing.
The Culture
Some teams on a couple of occassions went out for lunch together, either to celebrate birthdays, engagements or to bond.
I live on the central line so the cost of getting into work and socialising wasnt as bad as others.
The nightlife was pretty non-existant around the area where I worked. There were pubs and bars to drink in, however they were a 15 minute walk away.
Yes there were opportunities to volunteer and help fundraise money for the charity inside office hours however I asked my mentor well in advance. It was a great thing to be able to do throughout my internship.
