The Role
Really enjoyed it, but have since done other internships and realised that they didn't have the training facilities to really let me do the work representative to what I would be doing if I worked there.
Really nice people and I have stayed in contact with some of them.
Because it was quite an intimate office, you end up sitting fairly near the manager so they often ask how you're doing and what tasks you have been given.
Sometimes I would have loads to do and other times I would be begging people for work.
I had to do a report which was used in a meeting with some of the company heads which was great but most of the other work would just be making some of the actuaries lives a bit easier.
I learnt a lot of commercial awareness and they invited me along to a lot of the meetings they had so I could get a feel of what was going on. I also improved my excel skills. But I didnt receive job specific training.
The Company
Quite a studious office but everyone was very friendly.
Not very organised, I was the only intern so they don't have a program set in place.
They tried to give me some personal projects so that I could develop some skills, but it was difficult as they don't have a training scheme set up.
Subsidised Canteen
I have since had an internship experience in a much larger office and personally would prefer a larger, more sociable environment.
The Culture
Not very much - they would go out for colleagues birthdays but not much else otherwise.
London is a very expensive area.
The nightlife was very good - but I didn't experience it with work colleagues.
A few people play sport together but rarely.
