About You
The insight was a three day event that provided a simulation of running an oil and gas company. I found it to be very enjoyable and informative, teaching my a great deal about the oil and gas industry whilst taking part in a group activity.
The hotel and expenses were paid so I felt that BP valued my time. Additionally, there were employees of the company present that were able to assist throughout the process.
Received a lot of initial guidance and instruction. Then had an employee with us throughout the exercises who would help and provide advice.
I feel the experience of working in a group with different opinions will be useful later on. Furthermore, the information I received about the energy industry I believe shall be useful in future applications.
The Company
Was very well structured. We were given an initial programme at the start of the event and it stuck to this well.
I found the atmosphere to be really friendly and welcoming. It was encouraged to ask the employees questions as well as to discuss the activities in my group with other groups.
There wasn't really any formal training and development as such because it was only a three day event.
The insight gave me a lot of information about working in the energy sector as a whole and not just at BP. It also made me more aware of the different roles that are available in the energy sector and which ones I would perhaps find more interesting.
Did not learn a great deal about the BP culture in the insight programme.
The event was very helpful. It gave me an understanding of the different roles that exist within an energy company and the functions that they are responsible for. This allowed me to make a more informed decision about which roles I preferred and those that did not interest me.
Everything Else
Expenses were promptly reimbursed.
There were a lot of opportunities for networking. The company provided employees that we are to talk to throughout the process as well as at the organised dinners.
The networking events were very good.I was able to meet a wide range of BP employees at different levels of seniority and in different functions.
Did not find out much about employees activities outside of work apart from if they mentioned it over dinner for example.
I would definitely recommend this event to a friend.
