    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The job was enjoyable in that there was no repetitive tasks to complete weekely, monthly etc. Audits are project based that envolved you looking at different areas throughout the year.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt I could bring some of my own skills to the table and near the end of the placement felt like a true member of a working team

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Monthly meetings with my supervisor to focus on my goals. Including what I wanted out of the placement as well as wher eI needed to improve.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • At the start of the year as you would expect there was not a great deal I could do alone but as the year progressed I became busier as more work was intrusted to me with little aid. At some stages through an audit there is quite a bit of down-time. This time is useful for university work requirements and also the vast online training that is availible to you.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt I was gradually given more work and given the oppertunity to host meetings by myself as the year went on. This was great for confidence and I didnt ever feel I was out of my depth. This lead to the point where the other placement and I were able to run our own project consisting of approx 20hrs.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The greatest skill I learned was confidence. The nature of audit is to talk to different people all the time, some at high levels of management.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • A really friendly team who most would find hard not to get along with.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • With oppertunties for travel, consistant meetings and chances to develop yourself. You can make the placement your own depending on your interests.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • On-line training was optional but there were many other courses that you could attend if you found the right subject. Also oppertunities to visit other areas and see what goes on were availible whenever you liked.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    International Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • With only a 35hr week, business casual attire and gym onsite. The site alone makes it worth while for the future. Let alone the oppertunnity to explore the other careers at the bank as approx 6000 people work there.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • My year was the last of its kind with 60 placements all working at the bank. The next coming year only approx 5 are at the Chester site.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The salery was one of the best in the area considering it is outside of London and in the North.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Although I commuted from Liverpool, Chester had a selection of bars and a few up and coming clubs which were availible

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were organised trips to places (incl charity trips) within the team - people played 5 a side regulary with open invites and team lunches and meals were organised.
