About You
It was a fantastic introduction to investment banking and UBS.
There were activities with prizes throughout, as well as opportunities to network with employees from different divisions and an external social event for interns. Catering was excellent.
There was ample time to ask questions after every activity and opportunities to approach employees from the recruitment team.
The Insights week was a great opportunity to hone my interpersonal, presentation and teamwork skills.
The Company
There was a great balance between presentations, activities and networking. Not a single session ran over.
Everyone, from other interns to recruitment staff and senior employees, was welcoming, open-minded and easy-going; the atmosphere was very conducive to a great workplace. However, the numerical test midway and subsequent assessment centre made some people uneasy at various points.
Every single activity helped my self-development to some degree; the firm clearly endeavoured to make the Insights week as enjoyable and fulfilling as possible.
The representation of so many divisions and opportunities to enquire further made it very easy to picture myself at UBS, as did the day of shadowing. However, there was still a clear difference between the lifestyle of an Insights intern and a full-time analyst.
There is no better way to understand UBS' culture, values and vision than the Insights week.
The divisions that presented to us all gave potential career paths, making it a lot easier to make an informed choice.
Everything Else
The Insights programme was unpaid, and I had no expenses to reimburse. Breakfast, lunch and the social outing are all covered by UBS.
There were many opportunities to network (speed networking, networking lunches, work shadowing).
The social outing was very entertaining and led to a great relationship-building environment.
Despite a presentation on several community networks, it was not exactly made clear what extra-curricular opportunities were present.
The programme is a terrific introduction to investment banking and life at UBS, and is a must for anyone seriously considering financial careers.
