The Role
I enjoyed the 9 months exceedingly. It was my first taste of the working world, and boy what a great experience. The headquarters are impressive to say the least and made the corporate world appear very attractive. Overall, a very enjoyable placement! I would go back there tomorrow, if I could! Varied work, tasks and responsibilities.
With my language skills it is hard not to be valued in such a global company. I would translate huge documents, emails and sometimes phone calls, the variety meant that I never got bored. As a native English speaker, I cannot express how highly this was valued.
My supervisor(s) were amazing, I would have liked a little more support in the transition between the two and a little more information upon joining the company, apart from that they were both very friendly and helpful. They were approachable and friends for life, well - business contacts. It was a pleasure working for them and a delight working in their team.
There were ups and downs with the last week before Christmas being particularly hectic, but I assume it will be a similar situation in any company which allows a long break for its employees! I worked flexi-time which gave a lot of flexibility and meant that casual Fridays were amazing, an empty office by 4pm!
I found that organising an international project is a great deal of responsibility, but I reveled in the opportunity, especially for learning all the tools for planing international events and workshops. Yes, there were days with admin related tasks, but nothing I felt was beneath me. Often it gave me the possibility to meet new colleagues and practice my language skills.
I learnt a great deal about international companies and how they work. Also, about people and about myself. I learnt what interests me and what doesn't. I made many contacts, which will be useful for the future. For my degree I learnt many specific and technical vocabulary and improved my foreign language proficiency - which is invaluable.
The Company
It was such a brilliant environment to work in. You are given your own desk, laptop, phone and at first I was in an open plan office with ~20 people. Chilled and focused atmosphere which could sometimes get a little busy with phone calls if there was an incident. Very pleasant. My second office was smaller, there were three of us and a close-knit team. They were actually working on a different project but it was fascinating to hear about all that they were doing.
So I mentioned the change in supervisors. Although initially a tough shock for me, it turned out for the best - my new supervisor gave me more responsibility and independence. From both, I learned a great deal and I even extended my stay by three months, I loved it that much!
I was sent on business trips, participated in local and international projects, working with internal and external clients. It was such a valuable experience of business and showed how much this company valued each employee. Everyone was happy and proud to work there. There are many students there and they support us very well!

If they offered me a job officially, I would take it! There is no way anyone would turn down such an appealing opportunity. High job satisfaction, great perks, financial rewards, fully employed workers have company cars and can work from home. Amazing.
The Culture
Yes! It was great. We had an online portal to communicate, share car rides and organise trips in the evenings and at the weekends. My colleagues were eager to invite me to events outside of work and introduce me to their families.
Dirt cheap. Rent is unbelievable in comparison to large British cities. It can be difficult to find a flat, one I looked around had over 40 people interested. If you eat well at work in the canteen, you don't need much of a dinner. Coffee can be up to 2€ but at the train station in the morning you can get a croissant and cappuccino for 2.10€, which I often did! Colleagues often invited you for a coffee (no paying) and even if everyone in the group payed for themselves, you're a student and pitied!
I didn't really experience it that much. Some crazy electronic music... But I did attend a music festival and film festival (outdoor summer cinema) and loved them! Alcohol is so much cheaper. Made the most of that.
Not sure, does this mean with the company? If so, yes. There were open days at the factory and ALWAYS something going on or a collaboration with the theatre, sports stadiums... you name it! Huge variety.
