About You
It was really interesting to find out about how a small agency works in comparison to some of the larger companies I have worked for in the past. The agency offices were really cool as well!
Although I wasn't there for long, I was able to feel really valued and tried to give as many suggestions and input as I could so that my colleagues knew that I was serious about what I was doing.
More than I expected. I thought it was going to be a shadowing experience due to the time spent there. But I was given training sessions and loads of guidance by a number of staff members who took the time out of their day to look after and help me out.
I learnt basic email skills and design skills which will help me in my future career within the corporate world. I also learnt to get into a routine and having a set start and finish time each day - something I had not done before.
The Company
It was very well structured and they knew exactly what to do with me each day so I was never sat there twiddling my thumbs!
Lively. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and there was a real buzz around work, music was played and we had a real laugh. The office had a really sociable layout which meant you could chat to your colleagues whilst doing your work - a really good balance which is necessary within an office.
Training sessions were the main source of investment and the thing that taught me the most. Having a lecture-style one on one meeting with the design specialists allowed me to focus purely on learning and they could really tailor their presentations to me.
I have a clear idea of what it would be like to work there in the future and I spoke to various colleagues to find out more about their job role and the company as a whole - all really positive towards the company which was great to hear.
Speaking to various people in the office taught me lots about the company culture which I would've never of known through online research. The company history and the main competencies are really interesting and it was great learning about them from the ones who work with them!
Really great, as I already mentioned about the one on one training sessions. These sessions taught me the fundamentals I need to know when working in this kind of environment industry. And I can definitely confirm that I would love to work somewhere similar to here in the future.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed travel and lunch expenses
Yes. During lunch and after work drinks I was introduced to other employees and everyone had a very open attitude to meeting new people which was really great.
We went for after work drinks a few nights and it was really fun to have relaxed conversations about non-work related topics in a relaxed environment.
I don't know if there was many opportunities for activities - it was more spontaneous things that would be organised as team building exercises.
100% I think anyone would benefit from this insight if they were looking for a design led career.
