The Role
I found it very repetitive, the work i was given was largely work that my team didnt want to do. my team were mostly nice and we could get on and have a joke but many of them didnt have a lot of ambition to progress and were happy in their role so i felt we had very different mind sets.
I feel they valued me quite a lot since i was lightening their work load and doing some of their tasks for them. Also rememberer and celebrated my birthday so felt appreciated.
I dont feel that my manager provided much suppport, she sat down with me for 10 minutes a week to see how i was but i didnt find it very helpful. I was assigned a buddy (recent grad) who was very helpful and showed me hoe to do things, making sure i understood everything
At the beginning i was too busy to take a lunch break as i was given excel task after excel task. As soon as i was finished another repetitive task was handed to me but towards the end i had very little to focus at all and spent a lot of the time sat at my desk.
I wouldnt say a great deal, i wasnt given any i my own projects or tasks, just small parts of other peoples work that they needed to get done.
I found the persistant use of excel to be helpful as i know it will be transferrable to my next job. This was the only major skill i developed
The Company
It was quite good. The younger ones would joke around from time to time and people would bring snacks in to share.
I feel the placement lacked organization, many interns didnt feel like they had a purpose or much to had. Had quite a few activity days further out in the country that we were told we would have to pay taxi fairs and at the end it wasnt the case apparantly. Our personnel leader rarely replied to our emails so when we had issues to raise we would often struggle to get answers.
We had a personal development day dout of the office and a celebration day event at the end. They didnt focus a great deal but we were only there for 10 weeks and they did invest a bit of time.
National Travel
I didnt find it very appealing from watching my graduate buddy in his day to day role. I also feel that it is underpaid and the office is poorly located. I have since accepted a job with a different company
The Culture
Yes, the other interns were very nice but it was hard to organize anything as some people lived in cheshunt, some london and some in other areas of hertfordshire and beyond it was difficult to get us all together to go out
I did not live or socialise in cheshunt except for the odd drink after work. Lived and went out in london which isnt too cheap
None existant. There were a couple of old pubs but nowhere to go out. London was the best bet
Not that many, just peoples leaving events and birthdays
