    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyed my role within public sector, the work is fast paced and varied. Having previously only had 7 months experience at Tesco, it is a completely different world working for Lenovo. The pace of work is incredible. I have enjoyed all the responsibility placed on me by my team and feel like a integral part of the team.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Gradually, more and more responsibility is being placed on me, this makes me feel like I have earned their trust and respect. I feel like I am part of the team and they have all been very welcoming from the start. There hasn't been a person unwilling to help you if you have a query, everyone helps everyone.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I have been supported by every member of my team at some point. If I ask anyone a question, they will always take time to help me.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Usually very busy, certain members of the team provide you with more work than others making it varied and interesting. There is never a dull moment here, you will be expected to pick the role up relatively quickly and be able to contribute from the start.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Lots of responsibility is placed on me, I have covered for Internal Sales Reps when they have been off from work either on holiday or at events. This has meant I was running their accounts for the length of their absence and is a great responsibility when you are dealing with their customers and their potential commission.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Lots, there are far too many skills developed for me to list. The main ones would be talking to customers on the phone as I had never done that before. Communication with colleagues, being inquisitive and not shy about asking questions. Making sure you are clear and concise to customers, making sure all of the work you are set is covered. Clarification of requests if unsure.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Great, very friendly and able to have a laugh at times if necessary.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well, you were set a manager and a buddy to go to if necessary. Also there was a handover period from the previous placement student to me.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They have invested their whole year into me by taking me on as a placement student. You start learning from day 1 until you finish.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There is potential for jobs, some of the previous placement students were offered jobs.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, good socialising at lunch and sometimes after work.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Not too pricey if you look around long enough.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • A few nice pubs in the area, not really any nightlife in terms of clubs.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, football is played here on Mondays. I am a keen golfer and have played golf with a few of the guys here too.
