The Role
I really enjoyed the experience! It was great to meet like minded people and to finally discover what investment banking was all about. I didn't have much prior knowledge so it was definately interesting to find out what a banker does every day and dispell some of the rumours I had heard! It was a defining point in my early career/university life, as it made me realise banking was something I would enjoy and be suited to.
Everyone was in the same boat, and we all wanted to learn. I think we all appreciated each others' insights and knowledge in order to futher deepen our own.
HR were present all the time to help us out and I never felt uncomfortable asking for help. They were all friendly and approachable.
There was always something going on! Everything was efficiently planned, and we were never waiting around or bored.
Not applicable; we were not actually working, more just learning about the bank.
It assisted me to the extent that I knew I wanted to pursue a career in finance, so I know focus my studies towards that, and try to keep up to date with the markets and relate it to what I learn in Economics.
The Company
Always friendly and everyone was up for having some fun!
Extremely well organised. We had great exposure to some very senior people and the interactive sessions were great in demonstrating the actual job. I certainly learnt a lot.
I could tell that they really wanted us to benefit from the experience. They weren't just doing this for their own investment, they also wanted to excite and motivate the students. They made it clear that banking is not for everyone; this was a great opportunity to find out if it was what you wanted to do, and if not, no hard feelings!
I secured a summer internship with the company. Very pleased!
The Culture
Really good social scene. The company took us out for a networking dinner with analysts and senior management which was great fun.
Quite expensive.
