    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Given good opportunities to develop and learn. Also could see the work I was doing making progress and turning into a real working product.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Lots of morale events helped you to get to know your colleagues. There were just too many to get to know them all.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Somebody always there to help you when you got stuck. A good amount of training beforehand to help.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Always had work to do, but was given an opportunity to take breaks if I wanted. Taking a day or too off didn't make me feel behind.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • People started coming to me for help. Was given the opportunity to run a training session for new employees.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Taught me skills in software which I will hopefully be using in future jobs.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Fun place to work and opportunities to go climbing, go-karting etc made it really enjoyable.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Not much communication before I arrived, but plenty of organisation after I started. There were some weeks where staff were unavailable due to prioritising other projects though, which sometimes slowed things down.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Given many opportunities for personal development with a library, and plenty of teaching to help us in early weeks. Many lunchtimes there were further opportunities to develop with talks organised on different aspects of software.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • A great place to work with friendly colleagues. Really enjoyed the work I was doing, too.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Plenty of pub trips, cake etc.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Not cheap, but at least the company canteen had good value food.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I don't do nightlife...

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Plenty of opportunities to have fun, go to the pub, etc.

    5/5
