Softwire profile

About Softwire

Softwire makes innovative, high quality software for a range of clients including the BBC, government departments and Google DeepMind. Our brilliant working environment, friendly attitude and flexible approach has put us in the top 25 of The Best Companies to work for list for the past ten years. We are looking for graduate software developers and interns who want a challenging role in our highly successful and growing company.

We provide full on-the job training to our staff, all the way through their career, and they enjoy responsibility and autonomy right from the start. You might find yourself designing and building software on our Engineering team, assisting a client in the early stages of their digital journey on our Labs team, or helping a customer leverage their data on our Data Science team. Most of the time you will work from Softwire’s offices but, depending on the project and role, you may also be asked to visit or work alongside our clients in their offices.

As you progress in our delivery team, you will have opportunities to find a more specialised role which fits your interests and abilities, for example:

  • Managing projects
  • Becoming a technical lead
  • Training more junior developers
  • Becoming an expert in a particular area

Softwire combines a relaxed and friendly environment with a superb all-round package including:

  • London starting salary of £40,000 (£37,000 in Manchester; £38,500 in Cambridge),
  • Annual profit share to reward your contribution to the company's success
  • Flexible working time and conditions, and no pressure to regularly work long hours
  • Lively and frequent social events and company outings

Permanent roles typically start in September, November or April. We recruit and interview all year round so you can apply whenever you like – but it’s best to apply in the first term of the academic year to ensure you get your first choice start date.
