    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great team, but long working hours and whilst my job was fairly varied, others were slightly repetitive.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I had a great team who actually gave me real work and I did not feel like the placement student, the more you can do the more you will be given to do.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • 4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Depends on where we were in the project, sometimes were were very busy othertimes it was fairly quiet, usually I would work around 8.30-7pm.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was lucky to be in a team where I could really bring my own way of working and dealing with problems in a style that suited me. On certain aspects where I was able to shown a good use of initative I was able to 'own' that area.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a lot about projects and banking, but of course there's always so much to learn!! There were hundreds of online courses (many were free) to take and also training sessions to attend, but many were to be paid for by your team and therefore would really need to be relevant. But otherwise your team would usually have contacts within the bank so it was always fairly easy to go and shadow other people in different areas of the bank.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Work ethic was fairly high so you wouldn't have too much going on, on my floor, again team to team it varied to how much noise was made! But you're able to stop and chat with other collegues etc.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Fairly well orgainised, it was better for the Summer interns, but generally when we got into our work we didn't want to be disturbed by presentations etc.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot, I was treated by my team specifically as if I was a perm employee!

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Good, we were all asked if we wanted to be considered for a graduate job, and then went through a series of tests and an interview.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All of us interns socialised together as well as teams going on (depending which teams) regular nights out (usually thursdays).

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It's London!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Canary wharf was pretty busy early evenings on weekdays, weekends are very quiet. Lots of bars and restaurants.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 2/5
