The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed the work side but there was a lot of travel involved for me to get to and from work.
I worked with a fantatsic team who were extremely supportive but really social also - a great bunch of people
I had three mentors who were fantastic, really supportive and encouraging. The other members of my team although less involved in my work were very helpful and extremely welcoming.
I had work to do all through my placement, although some days were busier than others there was always a steady stream of work available.
The work I was given to do required me to use my own intitiative often and I was able to work without supervision. My projects were of real value, not something to keep the intern busy.
I believe this expereince will be invaluable because of the relationships I have built, the people i have met and the work I have been exposed to.
The Company
There was a fantastic atmosphere in my office, although my colleagues were extremely hard working there was always time made to celebrate achievements and support each other when it was needed.
The application process was simple and straightforward. the volunteering department were in regular contact and offered help in any way needed.
I was able to work in another department to gain experience and all the interns have a training day to work on applications and CV's. My mentors also worked on my personal development on a one to one level with me.

I will be applying for the Cancer Research Grad scheme, fantastic organisation , worthwhile cause, commited, enthusiatic people.
The Culture
There was definitely the opportunity, for me because I travelled so far I was less able to do nights out and things. But if you lived nearer then there were lots of opportunities.
I found the centre of London to be very expensive compared to the North West but I was prepared for an increase in my day to day costs. nights out were expensive but can be done cheaply if you really try. Vouchers for restaurants are a must. I was lucky as I stayed with a friends family and paid minimal rent however friends spent a lot on accommodation, up to £150 a week.
More bars than clubs in the immediate vicinity but I was not so far from Covent Garden, so it's very easy to get to places quickly and cheaply.
There were lots of volunteering opportunities offered by the charity and then outside of work there were all the usual ways to spend your time plus all the great free places London has to offer such as museums, galleries and festivals.
