  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was really enjoyable - the work is highly interesting and a modern office with friendly colleagues make for a great atmosphere.

  • My team welcomed me warmly on the first day and appreciated my contribution to the project throughout.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was very supportive and we had several one-to-one meetings where I was able to discuss my progress and raise any issues I had. I was also encouraged to speak to my manager at any point.

  • I had the right amount of work to do, with deadlines set a few days/weeks in advance so I could manage my tasks effectively.

  • The work I was tasked with was real work that needed doing so I felt my responsibility was high.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I gained skills in the application of engineering theory as well as time management, effective communication and IT proficiency.

  • Very friendly colleagues with just the right balance between professionalism and familiarity.

  • There was a clear aim for me to achieve, but still allowing for flexibility for when more work was needed.

  • The company was willing to give me a whole day training course in using a software tool.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • At work, placement students and colleagues sit together at lunch

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived in Crawley which is not too expensive for accommodation - you'll have no problems finding somewhere to rent here as Gatwick airport is nearby and many people rent rooms to fill the demand from cabin crew.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are a couple of clubs and quite a few pubs. Brighton is also about 40 minutes by train so that's always an option too for a very good night out.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are a few opportunities which are availble however it depends on project deadlines and project timelines.
