    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. I was exposed to a variety of areas of law and was challenged.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Obviously, there was an element of interview but I had a really enjoyable time and the whole team from partners to trainees were willing to share their experiences and help.

    3/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was a support mechanism in place to make each vacation scheme student feel at home. We were each allocated a 'buddy' and a 'supervisor' for each department we were placed in.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt about negotiation and marketing skills. I also broadened my understanding of different departments of law. I also gained more experience of working in a law firm with like-minded individuals.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was structured to allow for the key concepts to be covered - the interview, various skills sessions and practice area talks; however, often the days and work load was left to the individual to organise and manage. This balance I believe was valuable and necessary.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was enthusiastic, dynamic and welcoming. The trainees assigned to help our fornight of vacation scheme students were very patient and understanding. They also laid on a variety of events and socials to help aid integration and provide an environment to ask as many questions as we needed to.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested time to develop skills in various areas including marketing and negotiation. They allocated partners to run sessions. We also were invited to meetings and conference calls where appropriate.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The fortnight reassured me that I would be very happy both as a solicitor and working for the firm.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I believe you do not really know a place until you have first hand experience. All firms are very good at their marketing. However, the firm really were what I had believed them to be. The culture was genuine, realistic and with a passion for the work they do.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • 5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was adequately paid.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • I encountered a number of employees from the two departments I worked in. I also attended webinars and seminars and here met further individuals.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • I found some of the networking opportunities difficult particularly if with clients, as I felt like I didn't immediately know the client or what to say to them at a seminar. The social events were brilliant and very well organised. There was a murder mystery dinner party, BBQ and wine tasting.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, the trainees gave us a good idea of what was on offer but whilst on the placement I had access to the intranet so I was able to see what was going on.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I honestly had such a brilliant time and enjoyed myself so much - I could not ask for more, to be working somewhere where I am passionate about the work and in such genuine atmosphere and dynamic ethos.
