    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility from the first day and was treated like a proper employee of the firm. I learned a huge amount and met a lot of really nice people. I felt that I was invested in and was given challenges that stretched me.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was given a lot of manager and partner time throughout the internship. Everybody was approachable and made you feel welcome. When working on my research project, employees across the firm gave a level of support and help that exceeded my expectations. I even had a member of the national leadership board come and watch my presentation.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was always assigned a person to look after me in any task set, but everybody was approachable even if they were not directly assigned to you.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was given a variety of work to complete, however with a large research project to complete I was never left bored.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given chargeable work to do and acted as part of a team, so I had a responsibility to do that work to a high standard. The business development project was entirely my and another interns responsibility to complete.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My internship gave me a real insight into the operation of a large firm and enabled me to make an informed decision about my career. Not only did I learn about audit work in my time working there, but I was given a skill set that you cannot be taught in an academic environment.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Relaxed and friendly, but it was also a highly professional atmosphere.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • We were given a pack on the fist day outlining our plan for each day we worked there. The plan was varied and included time in lots of different areas of the business.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We were treated as proper employees and were even sent on a two day presentation skills course at Grant Thornton’s training centre. Senior people dedicated a lot of time to me throughout the placement.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I was offered a training contract with them and they intend to convert 100% of interns onto their graduate scheme.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I played football on a weekly basis and was invited to plenty of social events. I got on well with the other intern across the country, as we spent lots of time together on the corporate responsibility day and the skills course.
