    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my Internship- everyone at GT is helpful, friendly and a pleasure to work with.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Grant Thornton make sure that all the work you complete is making a valuable contribution to the business and your colleagues expect you to complete this to a high standard and really make use of your work. Colleagues invite the interns to all the social events going on whilst you're there so you really feel like part of the team.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Managers are always accessible via email or phone call and are willing to answer any questions you can and will always go out of their way to help you as much as possible.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Although it can be a little quiet sometimes as with no formal training it is difficult to find tasks for us to do all the time, but everyone really goes out of their way to explain what they're doing, why its important and try and find ways for you to help.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Of course Interns aren't going to be given an entire audit to do by themselves but all the work we completed was meaningful and actually contributed to the process.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learned some excellent skills during my time at GT, namely presenting skills picked up at Bradenham, as well as little things such as how to deal with clients professionally.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone in the office is really nice and friendly and makes sure to include the interns in any activities or social events/

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Sometimes it felt as though we had been placed on poor jobs as there wasn't much work to do, but this was rare. In general, I felt as though I knew where I was supposed to be and what I was supposed to be doing all the time.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They sent us on a training course to the internal facility, Bradenham, which was invaluable in developing our presentation skills.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I will find out soon if I have been offered a job with Grant Thornton and if I have I will certainly be taking it.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Every other intern was really fun and I've made great friends for life during my internship/

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home during my internship so this didn't really apply to me, but on the whole socialising in Manchester where I worked is reasonably priced.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Again, I lived at home and commuted to Manchester so I didn't experience much of the nightlife but from what my colleagues have said Manchester sounds like a really fun place to live!

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes we all had to get involved with a fundraising challenge, as well as being invited to regular social events in Manchester including the GT summer party

    4/5
