    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my summer internship at PwC; both from a work and social perspective. The work was varied and meeting a range of clients was very interesting.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were welcoming and friendly from the first day onwards and I was treated in the same way as a normal full time employee of the firm. I believe that I integrated well within the office and attended social events outside of working hours.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My people manager was extremely supportive and helped out with any queries I raised. This applied to work-related issues and any other general questions about the firm or more personal matters.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The work load was varied depending on which client you were based at. Most of the time I was busy but only needed to finish work off after office hours on a few occasions.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the same amount of responsibility as a first year graduate working at the firm. Naturally, the amount of responsibility increases as you gather more experience and knowledge at the firm.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I am currently completing a degree in accounting and finance and so there is a clear link between the summer internship and my undergraduate studies. However, I was surprised by how much I developed other transferable skills such as communication and presentation skills.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was only based in the office on one day out of my whole internship due to being at client sites. However, I really enjoyed the friendly, welcoming atmosphere within the office.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was very well organised. We were informed of our schedule at the start of the internship and there were only a few minor changes to the jobs I was booked to throughout the six weeks.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • PwC invested a lot of time and resources to my personal development. We had a full week of training to start the internship and an additional development day in the middle of the internship.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I was offered a graduate role with the firm; conditional on receiving a 2:1 in my final degree classification next year.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The office organises month end drinks and I attended two of these events which took place during my internship. I also attended a summer barbecue with my colleagues and a night out was arranged on the final day of my internship to wish all of the interns farewell.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was based in Cardiff which is a very affordable city. I already knew which places are good value for money as I attend Cardiff University.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Cardiff has great nightlife; whether this be in terms of pubs or nightclubs. There are lots of different places to choose from and most places are very friendly.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were many different out of office activites arranged. Most of these tended to be drinks events but there is also a PwC football team that plays matches against local clients.
