    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the internship.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The culture is great and the staff were all so friendly & supportive. They made sure to tell me when they thought I'd done a good job.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I couldn't have asked for a better people manager. She helped me achieve everything wanted during the internship, and has been very supportive in helping me try & transfer line of service. I had no set line manager, I just did jobs for lots of different people, who were all great.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had a good amount of work to do.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I appreciated the responsibility I was given, and naturally wasn't expecting to be "running the show".

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I've had a crash course in business networking, and learnt lots of usefull skills.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The Reading office has a nice atmosphere. The tax team is very office based so they have an especially good atmosphere as they spend a lot of time together as a team.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Overall the internship was very well run, my only criticism would be that some of the information regarding training days etc was conveyed to us very last minute.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had 3 days in a Devere hotel doing training at the start of the internship, a development day halfway through the internship to work on our so-called soft skills, and about 5 online e-learns to do.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I'm applying to transfer line of service to consulting (no disrespect to tax, it's just a better fit for me personally). as such I'll have to reject the offer I get and put in a transfer request, which carries some uncertainty.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, there were 12 interns in the Reading offic & we've grown very close as a group.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Not London prices, but I know of cheaper places. However, the area is nice and the bars are good.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good nightlife.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
