    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Absolutely loved my time at Morgan Stanley - it was very hard work but very rewarding - you get out of it what you give and I have therefore learned a huge amount.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The vast majority of my colleagues valued my work and efforts highly and many of them I now consider to be friends.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • HR were absolutely fantastic - by far the best HR team of any bank I have come across.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were weeks when I would say I was possibly too busy as we had so much on, but I far prefer this to being bored. I was not once bored.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As much as can realistically be expected considering we have not done FSAs.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills developed and the training will undoubtedly be invaluable to a career in Sales and Trading, but will obviously help very little with my politics and philsophy degree! My increased efficiency will no doubt affect my degree though

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Most of the time the atmosphere was very upbeat and positive. It is an enjoyable atmosphere to work in.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • HR have done a seriously good job with the structure of the internship

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot for an intern - the training was fantastic and throughout the 10 weeks, people were constantly willing to give up their time to teach me new things.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I very much hope to get a job.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Renting for only 10 weeks in London is very expensive - I paid £210 per week for student halls that were quite frankly revolting. Sadly you cannot rent a house for such a short period of time. Socialising wise, we obviously went to nice places but were never expected to pay for anything - either colleagues were always happy to buy the interns a drink or the event was paid for by the company

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good when we went out, but we didn't go out clubbing very often as we were working very long hours. We often went to bars after work though which was good.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Some - we went dragon boat racing which was a good event. However, there were a few football/rugby social events which girls were not really encouraged to play in so I felt a little excluded from that!

    3/5
