    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a great insight into day-to-day work at an analyst level. As this is the point of internships - to see if one would enjoy the job - it fit the bill completely.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very. Because of the small team sizes in my department, early responsibility was given on tasks that involved client exposure. Working with clients directly is certainly that!

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There were several presentations and workshops from senior management in addition to presentations of case studies. The interns were fully integrated into the Morgan Stanley employee universe.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On the debt side, summer is traditionally a relatively slow month. However, I was still kept busy with preparation for clients in late Aug/Sept when the bond markets reopened.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Lots. See above.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Soft skills mainly...working with people, prioritising workloads etc.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very convivial and fun without making it difficult to get work done. A certain level of professionalism always existed.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Faultless. The amount of organisation that went into the mechanics of the internship and the events, activities etc that were organised was stellar.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Personal development was very much emphasised as a core part of the Morgan Stanley experience.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Due to the positive feedback received at performance reviews and based upon this, I would feel misguided were I highly unlikely not to receive an offer. Based on the feedback received, it seems optimistic.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes. The events facilitated this. Additionally, a large contingent of the internship class was international which almost forced integration.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It's London...everything is expensive! But the salary compensated.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Canary Wharf isn't brilliant so interns often went into the West End.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Volunteering in local schools and charitable projects was encouraged.

    5/5
