    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my year, the work was interesting and allowed me to learn new skills.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was working with a great team and the work I was doing was to the limit of my knowledge and experience.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had fantastic support for when I was having trouble with a particular problem, and was helped to create my own solutions rather than shown the correct way.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Sometimes I found that I had little to do but this was rare. There was always things going on and I usually had more than one project at a time.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Although, as expected, I wasn't given a great deal of responsibility, I did design parts to be used in actual products.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt absolutely loads! This has been useful for my degree and applying for grad jobs. One downside of the placement has that due to the structure of the company they weren't able to offer any sponsorship or job offer based on my performance. I'll definitely apply for a job when I leave, but it won't be the only place I apply.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a good atmosphere and plenty of fun experiences.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Good. No complaints really.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was taught skills useful for work and sent on courses when required.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I did not really get a chance to secure a job with them, because of the structure of the company but I'll definitely apply at the end of my degree.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a regular night out on Fridays and plenty of graduates of a similar age to me.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It was fairly expensive, at least compared to going out as a student, but then again I was earning a lot more so I was able to afford it.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It was OK, the local town had a limited number of clubs, although you could travel for a better night out.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was a lot of out of work opportunities. For example I joined the rugby team, played squash, went on community days, joined the gym and went to big charity event days.

    5/5
