The Role
I was given responsibility early and enjoyed my development project immensly. I was also encouraged to learn more about the company, my team and any other areas of technology that I desired,
The team I was working within made me feel welcome and willing to answer my questions. Any contributions towards meetings or calls were considered and welcomed.
Management both in in the UK and US were supportive and regularly spoke with me to establish my process. There were very approachable if I encountered any problems and attempted to help rectify them as soon as they could.
I was generally assigned work with good frequency and if I completed it early was able to find additional work or use the time to learn more about the firm, my team or any technologies that I was interested in.
I was solely responsible for my element of the project.
Altough this was not my first internship, I gained invaluable programming experience and time management skills. In addition I was required to give a number of presentations both to my team and other interns to improve my average presentation skills that I had developed over my university career.
The Company
There is an obvious work atmosphere, but people are very comfortable within this environment and are very social.
There were plenty of presentations throughout the internship to give more information about the business and a number of social events allowing you to network both with other interns and existing employees.
There was just under one week of training prior to starting work within our assigned teams. There was also online training that we were required to complete. Any on-job training was provided by the team. However, the training courses within the firm were also open to us if we required them.

Working from home
I would gladly work for this employer again. I am very comfortable here and feel challenged by the work that I am assigned.
The Culture
Although most interns did attempt to socialse with the others, a number did tend to separate from the group. However impromptu drinks in the pub after work were quite a regular occurrence.
The area around the office can be quite expensive. However the area where I lived was cheap.
There are a variety of pubs, restaurants and a shopping centre close by. However there are no clubs in the area and it becomes quite about 8pm every night.
There are many societies and networks within the organisation and we were encouraged to take part in social activities organised by these organisations.
