Corporate Strategy Intern Review

My internship was in Management Consulting and I was working with the strategy side. I found that the internship gave me responsibility right from the off - my work was contributing to helping run a project and even got to start preparing an international business case. The only downside was that sometimes I felt I could have had more stimulating work - but as an intern I expect they didn't want to bombard us too much.

Everyone was so happy with the work I was doing and always told me that my work was good and that my contributions were worthwhile. I was always invited out by the team and always included in key meetings and my opinions and ideas were always considered.

My people manager was brilliant - I could talk to her about anything and she gave me excellent advice. I had an interest in the health sector and she put me in contact with lots of different people in the area so that I could establish myself and gain some more knowledge. I was able to shadow her for the day too and she really just helped me settle in. We also had buddy's who messaged us to make sure we were doing ok and to help us get accustomed to the firm which was really useful.

I was busy on a daily basis - I had just enough to do but sometimes I would finish my work and my managers would be out for the day and there wouldn't really be much for me to be getting on with in regards to the project. We had a group project with the other interns and a lot of compliance training so this stopped me being bored.

I had a lot of responsibility - I got to plan an international business case to take the project global and run the social media strategy by updating it every day.

I am taking a course in Corporate Strategy - a lot of which is highly related to what I was doing on the internship. I have better time management and organisation skills. My report writing skills have improved and so has my presentation skills.

Most people were working independently and so there wasn't much 'fun' going on however people were willing to talk. The atmosphere was friendly and comfortable. The idea of hot decking meant that I was working with different people every day so this aspect made it interesting.

The internship was set up brilliantly - from the training, the group exercises and generally just the whole thing. The only downside was that we didn't know which projects we were going to be working on until the day before we met our managers.

The training we received at the beginning of the internship was very good. We learned about presentation skills, how the firm is run, how to behave in a business environment etc. During my placement I also attended seminars on running social media campaigns too.

I got a job with the firm and I accepted because I really enjoyed my internship there and the perks that will come with the job are great.

Yes, weekly events were organised by the interns and also regular lunches and breakfasts too.

I live in London so I didn't really experience the cost of living but socialising in the city is expensive - especially when you are saving to go on holiday!

At London Bridge there wasn't much but London is full of places to go out and have fun.

I was always invited to Friday night drinks and other activities.
