Financial Assurance Intern Review

It was definitely hard work but it was made very enjoyable by the people. It was particularly enjoyable as many people who work there are young and you can get on with them easily.

I felt very valued. We were given work that would actually contribute to the completion of a job so your colleagues would appreciate the work you completed.

I was given a People manager who guided me throughout the experience, and a Buddy, for more informal advice. I was also supported by my managers on each job as they were always willing to answer questions on the work you were performing.

I was quite busy. As we were given quite a lot of responsibility I had to learn to manage my time and prioritise my work, but I was never overwhelmed with my work load.

We were given as much responsibility as an Associate would have gotten. We were performing work they would be doing to help with the job overall and everyone's work is reviewed by their superior so you have a good amount of responsibility for an intern but have the support of knowing whatever you do will be reviewed before it is finalised.

As I was working in Core Assurance and my degree is Accountancy and Business Law, the skills are very transferable. I especially think my audit and financial accounting modules at university will be improved and for further down the line my Excel skills improved leaps and bounds and my general business awareness and knowledge was increased too.

Professional but relaxed and easy to talk to people about other things but work, when appropriate.

Very well organised, we had all the interns from every UK office to just outside London for a training week which was very fun and informative and then the rest of our weeks were planned exactly like any other employees, with a fun development day in the middle. The 6 weeks were very well organised and structured.

As I said above we had a whole week of training, with interns being sent by the firm from every UK office to just outside London and a development day in the middle but throughout the internship we received coaching and advice.

My situation was slightly different in that I was offered the job in my original office but wanted to move offices so have to do another interview with the new office but I still avoid doing the rest of the application process again. But most people got offered a job on their last day, depending on if their feedback from each job was good enough. The conversion rate of intern to graduate position is high, you just need to put in the work when you are there.

There was plenty opportunities to socialise with your fellow interns and other colleagues, for example new start drinks, dinner and social activities in our training week. It is a very socialable place to work.

Average for a city - it was in Glasgow so was okay.

The nightlife in Glasgow is good.

There is a sports and socials committee which organises things like this, so it is quite easy to get involved.
