About You
Overall it was an interesting experience to learn more about the BP business as well as how the industry works in terms of the science behind it. I really liked the game at the end where we worked in teams, as it gave us a chance to learn about the energy industy and each other.
My travel to the location was paid for, and I received free lunch along with free hoodie so that made me feel valued to be there for the insight.
I have had a chance to ask any questions I had to all different BP employees working in HR, Sales, Marketing and Reporting. However since this was an day to discover the business, I did not complete tasks or need guidance of any sort for them.
I received insight on how to improve appliations which can help me improve my chances in applying for any kind of competitive internships. Yet in terms of improving skills, an insight day cannot do that.
The Company
Very well structured. The activities were very well planne out and the problem solving was fast and efficient when things did not go as planned. The tours of the location were very well structured and the employees were very prepared with what they can show us around the area.
It was a friendly atmosphere, but I think that it would have been better if we were given more time or had more ice-breaker activities so we would be more relaxed and comfertable with each other since none of the atendees knew each othet prior to the event.
This is a difficult question to answer, but I guess the firm did invest in my attendance as they paid for the travel and food for example.
It gave me an indication that roles are very different and that day to day work is always different, challenging and interesting.
The company culture was described by the employees, however, a discovery day did not gove me enough time to truly see what the culture is in practice and how strongly the culture in terms of values and behaviours are accepted between different employees. Yet, it seemed like BP really tried to make their beliefs stand out, but I would need more knowledge of the company to really understand their culture.
Everything Else
Got paid for train travel.
Good but awkward as we had to shift from table to table while eating to speak to employees.
They were okay, I had a chance to ask some questions I had.
Not too much. But I learnt about what some employees have done with BP outside of work.
It was helpful to gain further knowledge about the work and industry BP is in.
