  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very enjoyable, the work environment was happy and I was continuously learning.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As time progressed I felt accepted into the 'family' they are colleges on a work bases but friends in general.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • A detailed two week training session is given by the previous students to take you through the whole process of development and gives you time to ask all the basic questions. Support is continuous throughout the year, as you gain confidence the support is reduced.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There is always things to be completed or meetings to attend. Timelines are realistic and if problems are encounter in the project deadlines are extended to allow for the delays.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My ideas and contributions to the team were valued and ownership of them was encouraged to carry them through the project process and to see their outcome.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It has development my time management greatly and to be able to priorities tasks at hand.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was relaxed as long as the work got done. The bonus was cake Friday which was always a nice treat at the end of the week.

  • The placement was aligned with one main project and developed at the rate the project grew as well.

  • There were some formal training sessions with all the placement students and graduates to widen our knowledge of the company and develop personal skills.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The larger 3M company has been promoted so even if the division the placement has been carried out in is not hiring there are wider opportunities available.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As there were IP students as well as graduates on site we would arrange social's out to the cinema, bowling, meals etc.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Rent is a lot cheaper compared to living in a city and the cost of socialising was average.

  • There was one local night club which was great fun and there is many other options in surrounding areas too.
