    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Citi Quest (Sales and Trading): It was an absolutely fantastic week! Very well organised, a incredibly steep learning curve and a great opportunity to network.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I think 'like family' is a bit strong however what I wanted to point out was that you really were treated as one of the team which was brilliant. You were given a key card access to the trading floor and you were expected to come in in the mornings with everyone else, go to lunch when they did, get coffees with your team and so forth so you really were treated very well and not just like an annoying intern.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was on the High Yield credit desk and for me this was an area I knew little about. The team I was with gave me reading to complete, suggested where I could obtain and practise skills and allowed me to join them on teachings so the support and learning experiences were excellent.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Hopefully in due course the skills that I touched on will be the skills that I need. The skills were practical (sales, communications etc.) as well as specific (market making, pricing, derivatives).

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The spring week was run very well. The HR team played a crucial role in making sure everything was where it should be and they were brilliant!

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It was great: everyone was busy and hard working but they always made time for you sometime in the day to talk with you, give you a bit of guidance and offer their advice.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Citi let us shadow a desk every day of the 5 day intern. This was a fantastic opportunity which isn't offered by many companies especially not as a spring week.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It helped me discover new areas of sales and trading that can be both client related and technical.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I think the culture I picked up was work hard to be the best but equally enjoy and be proud of the company you work for.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I was already certain on becoming a member of the sales and trading team however it did assist me in what area/ product I want to be in.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • As well as being give £40 for lunch and coffee.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes constantly

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There were two: a speed networking event with MD's and VP's and an evening with fellow interns at a bar with free drinks and food.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes a lot of them join the subsidised gym as well as play for a sports team.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Without a doubt this was the best work experience I have had so far. It was very focused, the HR team were driven to provide an excellent experience and my desk gave up a huge amount of their time to help me understand key concepts and ideas. I also liked the fact they gave you worthwhile feedback - positive and negative. It was personally the first time this was given in a very constructive manner.
