    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship, although the line of service I was in is not what I see myself doing long term,. The internship gave me an insight into the firm as a whole and opportunities to move into different departments. It is invaluable experience to put on your CV wherever you decide to ultimately apply.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Really supportive atmosphere and felt genuinely useful on the projects I worked on. You get to work on small engagement teams where you are treated like any other member of the team.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The atmosphere is very supportive, you have both a buddy and a people manager to guide you through the whole process and anyone in the firm seems happy to talk to you and offer advice.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was quite busy, working as a genuine part of a team, so doing the same amount of work that would be expected of a first year graduate. However never felt too busy the workload was manageable and the working hours not too long.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • You are given plenty of responsibility, at every stage you are doing genuine work and given liscence to speak and interact with clients independently.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • In terms of content it was not relevant to my degree however in terms of general life skills it was very useful. I feel much more comfortable speaking to people, initiating conversations and presenting in front of people and have built up a good network of contacts. It has also given me the confidence that I have the skills to do well in any cooperate environment.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Whilst in the PwC office the atmosphere is great and there are loads of opportunities to socialise after (and during) work. Whilst on client site the atmosphere was more subdued and socialising became more difficult, however it was still easy to build good relationships within engagement teams.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was very well organised from the week of residential training, to the actual engagement work, I was busy every day.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had a whole week of training before commencing the internship and two development days along the way. We also set objectives and received feedback throughout the process.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Although I have decided for now not to pursue a career with the company, the people itself were very welcoming, the salary was generous and the opportunities were incredible.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, social events were organised on seeral occasions during my placement, giving me the chance to meet other interns as well as current employees.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Accommodation was more expensive in general, particularly as I could not commute from home or the property that I was currently renting. Socialising was not cheap but was reasonable, depending on what location one chose.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There were plenty of bars, restaurants and clubs to keep everyone happy!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I think it is hard to get involved in a short and limited space of time, but I am aware of plenty of sporting and social clubs that were available to all employees.
