The Role
Did get the chance to practise some of the skills learnt in school and also did learn a lot of new skills (e.g. management, technical , IT etc)
We worked together very well and my work was appreciated by them, sometimes we did go for social activitites together.
I always had a clear direction of what I wanted to achieve and how by consulting experienced people.
I was always occupied because I had many tasks to be taken care of everyday but I was able to manage and prioritise them to make sure I was doing the right thing at the right time
In one of my project for example, I was part of a team to investigate a health & safety issue occurred on a plant machinery. My job was to retrieve and analyse a wide range of data and then to report back to the team during meeting, and then the team will discuss and decide what next steps to be taken based on my findings.
Some of the skills that I have picked up will be useful for me either in my final year or in my future career for example project management skills, numerical and analytical skills etc.
The Company
I was in an open plan office and there were a few people in the office who always joke, although I find it distracting when I was concentrating on my analysis.
really well organised always knew where i'm going what i'm doing
We were given quite a lot of training which could benifits us and our jobs. We could sign up for any sort of training as long as the training is justified for our job.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
fingers crossed! usually placement student are more likely to be offered graduate roles
The Culture
Quite a lot of social events had been organised for all the placement students througout the placement year and we had a lot of fun.
I lived in the student area therefore there were quite a lot of students offers you could get. You could also meet a lot of people ny joining clubs available to the community such as sailing, cycling, etc
Never really went out so can't judge. But the word at work sounds like there is lots to do!
Activities available such as kite boarding, canoeing , camping, sailing, etc and also some charity activities as well.
