    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Very insightful into the world of banking. They tried to make it as fun as they could where possible, invited inspirational speakers and allowed for shadowing on the trading floor. All in all, enjoyed it alot.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Felt very valued, as they would answer any questions I had and ensured you got a good feel of the company by rotations around different divisions for shadowing in very small groups (2-3) to personally meet people in the bank.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Great support and guidance, always answered any questions I had and were quite thorough with explanations. Those who I shadowed weren't afraid to hold back on their honest views, advice and in-depth technical explanations, which made me feel less like an insight student and more of an intern.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Not much would assist me at university with my degree, however there was very valuable insight into the world of banking and what it involves. Not only the technical aspects of it but also the social and career factors were explained.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured, we received a schedule for the week on the first day and many different activities were covered in a way to not become tiresome or repetitive. Well prepared week all in all that allowed other interns and I to be more confident and certain of the week ahead.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Great atmosphere, particularly being around like-minded people - both the other insight students and the employees themselves. There were games, teamwork exercises and a fun quiz social at the end of the week. Throughout the spring week, there were a lot of planned activities and situations which promoted socializing and to lighten the mood more.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The presentations and exercises provided didn't go into too much detail or depth, however the shadowing allowed me to ask specific questions that were explained fully which I appreciated.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I got a good feel of a lot of what the bank has to offer, including roles within the Markets division, what the culture is like and career progression in the future. Life as a banker at RBS was well conveyed.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • A lot of effort was made to promote the culture, such as socials, networking events, speakers and games. Speaking to employees whilst shadowing was the best way I learned about the culture, as they told me their personal experiences one-to-one.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The week was quite in-depth and covered the vast majority of what Markets had to offer. It really assured my decision to go into the Markets division and pursue this career in the future.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Spring week did not pay and I did not need any reimbursement in travel.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • A lot of opportunities, such as networking, socials and work shadowing.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • A few were arranged, they made sure to include a variety of people from different divisions to cater to everyone. They were all very friendly and informative.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • This was explained a bit during presentations, but even more so during networking and talking to employees. Charity fundraising events and socials were mentioned, both of which highly praised by those I spoke to.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, great week and very informative. The culture comes off well and it may make you pursue a summer internship in the future.
