Insight week Review

This was a 1 week insight, i enjoyed everyday. They showed me all their departments in a particular store which was very interesting, whilst at the same time very 'fun'. I was able to see how each employer contributes ensuring the store if running efficiently.

I felt very special in the short period of time being here. Their wasn't a day were I felt an employee wasn't engaging with me. I felt that everyone who was working at the stored informed me with vital information on how they make sure everything runs smoothly.

I received a lot of guidance and support on how they ensure everything is on time, how different staff members work efficiently and why the store layout is done in a particular way to attract customers. E.G. They have a special deals section.

Quite a lot of information and new skills were obtained from the firm. I got a better understanding of how to make a business successful, and why certain things are done to attract customers. The skills that i learnt are very useful especially as I am doing a business degree.

It was very structured, each day I saw a different part of the store and how they worked together ensuring operations that are carried out are efficient.

The atmosphere of the staff was very good they made each day interesting and fun. To be honest I never felt that 'i wish I was doing something else'.I found the new learning very interesting.

The firm didn't invest any new training or development to me, this could be because I was only their for a short period of time, but If i did a placement here i am sure they would invest in personal training and development.

The insight helped me incredibly to understand how it would be like having a full time role at the company. i got a better understanding of what department i would prefer to work in if i decide to work for the company in years ahead.

I currently already had knowledge on big firms culture but not individual companies cultures. Whilst here i felt their main aim was to keep staff and customers happy at all time. I saw this quite alot everyone was enjoying what they did.

Quite a lot, why? because as I went through the days here I understood how the department i would like to be working in operates to ensure everything is running smoothly, as i was able to see this face to face.

No payment was made to me, this is because it was an insight, i am sure if i did a placement or intern i may have been paid.

Yes i met lots of new people whist here in different departments who were friendly enough to give me advice and explain their roles in the company, which was very helpful i found. Everyone was very approachable.

Unfortunately i didn't get a change to ask about even event opportunities nor did they explain any to me.

No i didn't ask as i thought it may be to personal, i kept it to work enquires only.
