The Role
Completed an eight-week summer internship. Great company and colleagues. Relaxed environment where interns are given many opportunities to apply and improve corporate skills.
Worked in a small team and could always receive feedback on my progress. Was constantly asked to assist my team in tasks, and was also given high amounts of responsibility from week 1.
Received regular feedback on tasks I completed. Could arrange meetings with my line manager and buddy pretty much at any time.
I worked very efficiently and had always something on my desk that I could work on. I was, however, never required or asked to work OT, nor weekends.
Could have a significant role when helping my team with important projects. I did also work on my own projects and was given free hands when tackling tasks.
My learning curve during my internship was quite steep, especially in terms of acting professionally towards both clients and colleagues. Training consisted of a two-day induction, but I learnt a lot more through practical learning.
The Company
Relaxed atmosphere. People could come to your desk at any time and ask if you wanted a drink form the coffee machine. Friday afternoon-discussions could consist of anything from football, cricket to film reviews.
There was a plan for my internship with specific periods devoted to different areas. However, this was quite flexible, and interns were also encouraged to do insight days in other departments.
Did not receive any training apart from in-house training. However, a lot of time was devoted to interns if they wished to receive more training.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Received an offer to join their Graduate scheme at the end of my internship.
The Culture
Team drinks and intern after-work socials.
London is London. I managed to get down the rent expenses by living in zone 3, but I could easily commute to the office in 15 mins on the tube.
Bars in the area were packed with city professionals on Thursday and Friday afternoons.
Some socials were hosted for the employees.
