The Role
Overall the experience was a great insight into the world of general insurance and the role finance plays.
The team I worked with were quite large, so this varied person to person, however in general people seemed really appreciative of what I was able to do for them.
Poor support from other staff. Got the impression that a lot of people there didn't really know what they were doing.
This progressed from being a bit bored at first, to progressively more busy towards the end, when we had a deadline we were working to. I enjoyed it more when we were busy though.
once I had proven I could cope with things, I was given more responsibility. Unfortunately this took time to achieve, so it was quite late on in the placement.
Really useful insight into the world of work and general insurance.
The Company
It was ok. The office is a bit dingy though.
Ok. I don't think it was a formal placement scheme though, so it was pretty bespoke.
They taught me most things on the job, and there were some online resources I could use, but they had problems logging me into this, which put a bit of a downer on them.
Subsidised Canteen
They ended up offering me a job. Which was nice.
The Culture
There weren't any other placement students.
London!
London!
Other than the friday nights (and sometimes midweek nights) there wasn't much going on. The friday nights were awesome though.
