    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a great introduction to the charity sector and a large, well-run organisation.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My manager was really good at giving me feedback, and my team always passed on positive comments from other members of staff.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had weekly 1:1s with my manager, where we ran through the week's tasks. The nature of the project I was working on meant that I needed to come up with my own initiatives, which was a useful learning experience.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The workload definitely varied day by day. When it was less heavy, I was able to get involved with intern activities.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I designed and implemented a communications plan to support a larger project, which was great experience.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The internship definitely allowed me to build up my skills and get experience in areas that I'll need in future roles.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone is very friendly and, although I was in a quieter section of the office, people were still happy to chat about the weekend etc.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was well organised. The recruitment process reassured me that the placement would be worthwhile.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As well as being given a personal development plan, we had a CV workshop and were given 1:1s with HR advisors.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • As there are so many interns per scheme, the chances of everyone finding a job are unlikely - but the volunteering team were really good at highlighting any new roles that came up during our placement.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As it's a large group, there were a lot of opportunities to go out together and most people were very social.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Islington is pretty expensive, but there are a lot of good pubs/restaurants.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are some really good bars/clubs around Islington, most of which I've discovered through this internship.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As it's a charity, there are always lots of volunteering opportunities - from cheering at a race to serving celebrities at black-tie events.

    5/5
