The Role
Loved it for the most part, after initially taking a while to settle in and found it difficult to get over making mistakes towards the beginning.
Made some great contacts including team members and senior levels of management right up to the CEO. Made some friends for life, some of whom I even ended up going on holiday with etc.
My line manager was one of the busiest people I have ever met, but whenever I really needed some support she would be there. I could have done with more guidance in the beginning, but it was a particularly busy time for my team, so can understand why this wasn't possible.
If anything too busy, but I think that this helped me to develop time managment skills and taught me the importance of prioritising.
I was given a lot of responsibility. Show material and in-store tannoy announcements that I had worked on were being implemented in stores almost from day one, and the responsibilities grew and grew throughout the placement.
I developed so many professional skills that I will be able to use in future employment, and some that are helping me with group work and organisation in my final year at University. I also attended an experiential learning residential stay which was absoluitely fantastic, and a number of on-site coaching courses with external companies, developing an understanding of 'self' and of leaderhsip.
The Company
Fast moving environment, with quick turnaround projects as well as longer term campaign development. Working in marketing, it was quite a creative environment, with a great mix of youth and experience.
Some slight issues were experienced between being aware of holiday allowance, knowing when we would find out if offered a graduate position etc., but these were relatively minor in the grand scheme of things.

The Culture
Yes, made friends with a range of people from different backgrounds. Only negative is that some cliques developed with students who had moved to the area and chosen to live together.
I have lived in the area all of my life apart from the first two years of University so don't know much different. For the salary we were on as placement students, I would say we were more than comfortable in comparison to how I would have been in another placement I was offered with IBM in London.
Again, lived there all my life so quite good but don't know that much else.
5 a side football matches & tournaments were quite regular in my department, along with the occasional social night out after pay day.
