The Role
There was always help available whether it be from managers or other members of the team.
Work levels were dependent on how busy the markets were however, if there were ever any quiet periods there were always projects to work on.
I was given as much responsibility as my manager felt I was able to cope with. By the end of my placement year I was receiving similar work and responsibility levels as an analyst would have.
Skills in which I improved on during my placement year such as time management and written and oral communication skills will help during my final year at University.
The Company
There was a friendly but hard working atmosphere in the office, the culture of Morgan Stanley made the office an enjoyable environment to work in.
HR provided a firm structure to the placement year including organised training and mid and end of year reviews.
During the first couple of months there were weekly training sessions and talks by members of the company on different departments which enabled a greater understanding of Morgan Stanley as a whole. Throughout the year Team2Team talks were held on a regular basis which allowed you to find out about other teams within Operations.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Received a job offer for an analyst role when I graduate.
The Culture
It was in London so was expected.
During the year there was the opportunity to take part in events such as volunteering, pub quizzes, JP Morgan Chase and many other charity events.
