The Role
I'm only 4 months into it, but so far I'm really enjoying it. I'm not in an area which is going to give me optimal experience at the minute, so in January I'm moving to a different department which will help me more in the long run, and I'll also be doing work experience with a different team which will be great! Boots is a great company to work for - head office is so chilled out and friendly.
The Boots team is like one (very, very) big family - everyone gets on really well and the majority of people are really willing to help you develop which is great.
Management are all really friendly and helpful - you can pretty much go to anyone for guidance. My line manager is great, she knows how much to stretch me and she's there for extra help if I need it.
Some days I'm really busy, others not so much - the same with most jobs, I'd imagine. If you don't have enough to do there's always help - your line manager can give you extra jobs, there are things you can help out with outside your role, or you can go and do some work experience in a different department.
Boots are fab for giving you loads of responsibilty - they employ you with the aim of keeping you on after your degree so they invest a lot into you and really stretch you. Loads of us are working on projects worth millions of pounds!
They also put loads of emphasis on self-development - again, because they're hoping the investment will pay off when they get to keep you! I've learnt so much already and I've only been here 4 months so far.
The Company
In my particular office it's a bit quiet, but everyone gets on really well. In D90 (the main building where the majority of departments are, 'latte land') it's supposedly brilliant, so I'm looking forward to getting over there in January.
As it's only the second year there are still a couple of kinks that need ironing out or improvements that need to be made but on the whole it's been done very well and they take all our feedback on board.
This is one of the company's main highlights - they invest so much time and money into developing your skills and you as a person.

Working from home
If I continue to do well, I'll be invited onto the graduate scheme, which is getting massive investment at the minute. That's the idea behind the Year in Industry students - they train us up then get us back when we graduate! I'll be returning on the Commercial scheme (I'm currently doing Supply) which is more relevant to my degree.
The Culture
We all get on really well and have regular nights out, and we have a few socials planned.
I'm living with my parents this year as I'm from Nottingham so can't comment on the cost of living but on the whole everything's priced alright!
There's loads to do in Nottingham, and something for everyone. Oceana is good for a typical night out and there's Rock City which is great if you're that way inclined. Loads of bars and restaurants too.
Boots put on loads for charity, so there are always activities you can get involved in with that, and they're happy for you to organise things yourself too.
