The Role
I really enjoyed being given the opportunity to work within a friendly office and meet lots of new people both in the office and in other areas of the Business. Although the work was challenging I thoroughly enjoyed working through these challenges which gave me great job satisfaction.
The entire team at BAE Systems was extremely welcoming, the Graduates within the Business treated me as one of their own and my colleagues within the same area that I was working in made sure that I felt at home, thus I was able to relax and enjoy the time I spent working there.
I was given a lot of support both by my supervisor and other members of the team who were keen to offer help or advice when needed.
The work load varied on a daily basis, however, for the most part I had sufficient amounts of work to make headway with, which made up for the lulls. In some ways I could have been given more to do, for instance, a lot of the work I was doing was technical, therefore, some administrative work could have filled up the gaps.
I was not given a huge amount of responsibility throughout my placement, however, in my line of work there is not a huge amount of responsibility to be given. I would have liked to be given some more roles that required me to be in charge a bit more or help me to think independently.
The skills I have gained whilst working with BAE Systems have and will continue to benefit me throughout the rest of my degree and when I begin my professional career. Many of these are impossible to learn outside of this line of work.
The Company
There was a very light-hearted and relaxed atmosphere within the office I was working in, everyone was involved in any office banter, thus making everyone feel welcome.
I believe the overall work placement could be improved slightly if it were better organised. The leaving conference for the Interns was pulled together last minute, meaning that we had to organise things in the days leading up to it, but overall, it was organised.
The Company, I believe invested in me well, there was a lot of support available from several different people and I was given the opportunity to travel throughout the UK which helped further develop my skill set.

Although I have not been offered a job with BAE Systems straight off, they have given me the chance to be exempt from certain parts of the interview process if I am to apply for a job in this Business.
The Culture
I got along well with the other Interns and we were able to socialise at the weekends and other times throughout the week.
Cost of living was quite expensive and for me the petrol was expensive in order to get to and from work. The socialising in my area was not great, however, there were other areas available to live.
The nightlife was alright in the area where I worked, however, again there was the opportunity to choose another area to live in where the nightlife may have been better.
There were a few opportunities to get involved in social events outside of work, however, only being there for three months and during the summer months there was not huge amount going on.
