The Role
The internship was an engaging experience, getting to perform audit work on client site within the first week seemed daunting at first but near the end I found it exciting and rewarding.
All members of staff, whether recent graduates or managers, where always exceptionally helpful; assisting me with my work, informing me about life at KPMG or just to have a chat with during lunch.
The skills I learnt; time management, client relations, documentation of work whilst working on audits will be directly transferable to my final year at university.
The Company
Although I didn't spend a lot of time in the office, spending a significant majority on client sites, when I was in the members of the department where always able to help and
I felt that the internship was well organised, however there was no shadowing of a partner and I felt as though there should be a grad recruitment checking that the department is making the most of the 8 weeks, as some of my intern colleagues didn't spend as much time on client sites and no-one seemed to interested in their development.
There is no formal training per se, rather the training is "on the job" this means that you really understand why you do some of the work that is asked - it's clear that your work is a real contribution to the audit.

The Culture
I meet up for dinner and a drink with a few colleagues who were placed in different departments, we discussed our experiences and the possibility of working for KPMG once leaving university.
Birmingham is a great city of contrasts, although some areas are expense to eat/live you can always find a great priced restaurant if you look hard enough. There are many different areas just outside the city centre to live in, depending on how busy/green/open you like!
I was not aware of any :(
