About You
While on the insight programme, there were many days when I just honestly could NOT wait for the day, as well as the programme itself to end!
Didn't feel incredibly valued; I didn't have much to do the majority of the time (although I do appreciate being brought along to some client calls and client meetings, but I didn't get very much work to do)
I had a mentor who was incredibly nice, but again, didn't really give me much to do!
Don't really think I developed any skills, although I do appreciate the fact that I got to experience what life in a corporate atmosphere is like!
The Company
Not really well structured at all; our first day was an orientation day, and after that we never heard from HR until the last day of the programme when they emailed us a survey to do. It would have been nice for HR to organize social events for the interns, given that we were each on different floors/separate departments and thus most of us never saw each other ever again after the first orientation day!
My floor was really friendly and the people were absolutely lovely, but a MAJORITY of my time was spent sitting at my desk with absolutely nothing to do except wait for the day to pass by...
Like I said, I wasn't given much work to do, and the reason for that (as explained by the people on my floor) was because I didn't actually *know* how to do anything, and they all said it would've been helpful
Definitely! Although I didn't have any work to do, I guess you could see everyone else working?
People are really, really, REALLY friendly; lots of mixing between juniors and seniors, so that was really nice!
I think this work *could* be really interesting if I was actually given work to do, so I'd actually like to give it another chance and see...
Everything Else
Would've been nice of the firm to reimburse expenses for those of us who did not live in London; I more or less broke even during the insight programme, spending all the money I earned on accommodation in London for the duration.
No networking events organized at all (like I said, we never heard from HR ever again after the orientation day), so basically it was up to you to network on your own with the people on your floor.
There were ZERO networking/social event opportunities! Never saw the interns or heard from HR again after the orientation day.
Definitely saw that the employees had a social life outside of work, but not really related to anything organized by the firm...
I think it REALLY depends on which floor/department you're put in (which is all random) because I know some of the people on the insight programme had an AMAZING experience; they had loads of responsibility and work to do, whereas others (like me) more or less hated the programme!
