The Role
Not the most interesting work, but this was improved by the great atmosphere.
I felt that the work I was doing was actually useful to the team as a whole.
Support was always forthcoming when asked for, and I never felt like I was inconveniencing anyone; coworkers understood I was new, and wanted to help.
When I was at a client, I was busy for the vast majority of the time. However, for 4 of 8 weeks I was in the office, where work was sometimes scarce.
I was completing work that was going straight into the Audit file to be reviewed by a manager, and by the end of my placement, I was trusted to do it properly with minimal assistance.
The communication and organisation skills will be useful, though the audit skills themselves won't be as much.
The Company
The atmosphere, while quiet at times due to people concentrating on work, was very friendly. Drinks were offered around the office, and lunch was usually sociable.
Very well organised and structured.
Training was given on the job, and was thorough.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
The job isn't that exciting, and the pay isn't high enough to make up for that.
The Culture
Social scene wasn't great as we were all on different clients at different times, making socialising difficult.
Birmingham isn't that cheap, but is far from London prices.
General city nightlife.
There weren't many opportunities available during the 8 weeks.
