    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • you have good days and bad. the best thing about placement is it gives you a good idea of what you want to do when youre older - office based work, field based work etc

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • always being asked my opinion never patronised

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • genereally you were left to get on with things yourself, but help from my manager was always a phone call away. most of the time though i just popped over to a colleagues desk if i had a question

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • in my job you need to be proactive so you should never have no work to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • i have my own sales territory which i am responisible for. however this did take me 6 months to earn so you have to put in the hard work before you get the rewards

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • communication, relationship and time management skills i will take with me but many of the skills i learnt were very much related to the market i worked in so i am unlikely to need them unless i go back to work in that market

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • everyone was always up for a laugh, very much a work hard play hard atmosphere

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • there was a placement co ordinator that you could go to if you ever had any problems. always had work available to me which made me felt useful

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • if i put my name forward for training i would always be allowed to get involved. it was never a case of im 'just' a placement student - got treated like a real employee

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Car

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • hopefully ive done enough to secure a grad job which would be brilliant, but i'l have to wait and see

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • some people i got on really well with, others not so much. most people were up for a night out though which was good

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • i lived with my parents which helped with bills etc

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • im at bournemouth uni where the nightlife is brilliant. reading isn't quite so good in comparison

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • depends how much effort you want to put in. i played basketball, squash, badminton and rugby during my time at work and also did things like tai chi at my local gym
